I love this quote, from Seth Kantner's book, "Ordinary Wolves", a difficult book that forces us to look deep within.

Backpacking

I went backpacking with my son Max for a few days up in my beloved country. We slept under a tarp with some balsam boughs to insulate us from the cold and wet ground. Smelled so good! Max made a tripod of wood which we put over the fire for cooking. We moved to three different campsites. I am working on a piece today that was inspired from this latest trip. Colors and smells of fall were abundant. We watched the fire slowly die from our sleeping bags at night as we gave way to sleep, the stars twinkling high above the black outline of pine trees.  Days were spent hiking and exploring new sections of the Superior Hiking Trail.
